Water, Sewage and Sanitation

The City of Stratford obtains its water supply from 12 deep artesian wells and is assured an abundant year-round supply. The pumping capacity of the existing system is 40,000 cubic metres per day at 65 PSI. Stratford’s consumption of water averages approximately 16,000 cubic metres a day. There are two water towers and an in-ground storage tank with a total capacity of 18,200 cubic metres that serve as storage units for the City.

 

The Stratford sewage treatment facilities use a conventional “activated sludge” process with an efficiency rating of 92% for Biochemical Oxygen Demand and 96% for suspended solids. Capacity of the treatment facility is 6.7 million gallons per day. There is a sewage charge of 150.0% of the Water Consumption Charge, billed and collected on behalf of the City of Stratford.
